The US Census had compiled a collection of facts relating to the upcoming 60th birthday of the leading edge baby boomers, the generation born between 1946 and 1964. Based on projections almost 8,000 personsin the US will be turning 60 each day in 2006, or 330 each hour!

As of July 1, 2005, there were 78.2 million baby boomers. In 2004, 9.1 million boomers were black, 8 million boomers were Hispanic, and 32% of Alaska's population was part of the baby boomer generation. Babyboomers comprised 30 percent or more of the population in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
