 Derek Sivers gave a TED Talk on how to start a movement.  His philosophy is:

The first follower is actually an underestimated form of leadership in itself. … The first follower is what transforms a lone nut into a leader.

Derek is an entrepreneur and professional musician who is best known as the founder of the company CD Baby, which was the seller of independent music on the web, with over $100M in sales for over 150,000 musician clients.
